There are some food sources which are very high in yin or yang. Most often, these food choices are avoided. Some foods very high in yin are refined sugars, chocolate, fruit juices, and sodas. Predominately high yang foods include red meat, salt, fish, poultry, eggs and dairy products.
Great care and proper portions must be taken into consideration if the above food choices are used, as the correct balance of yin and yang must be determined in order for the macrobiotic diet to be effective.
